The Russian and Eurasian studies minor immerses students in the history, culture, politics and languages of Russia, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. In this interdisciplinary curriculum, students examine Russia’s cultural contributions and turbulent political history. The minor helps students apply lessons from the region locally and globally. It may prepare students for careers in disciplines such as national security, journalism, international relations and the arts.  

As a Russian and Eurasian studies minor, students learn the history, politics and economics of this region and will gain proficiency in Russian or an equivalent language. Students also study Russia’s rich history of music and literature, public health, the environment and beyond. The minor makes an excellent addition to a primary area of study in languages and cultures, political science, law, pre-health, business and nonprofit administration. Russian and Eurasian studies is one of six interdisciplinary minors focused on international regions and global themes.
