Medical Education for Inclusive Excellence 

Healthcare is changing, and the patient populations of tomorrow will be the most diverse in United States history.  At the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, we want to ensure that our students have the skills and confidence to provide compassionate, high-quality care to meet each patient’s unique needs while also recognizing the broader societal and healthcare system patterns that can impact the health of various people differently. To that end, our curriculum has been carefully designed to prepare students to work effectively on an individual and system level with patients.  Additionally, the Office for Culture, Access, & Stakeholder Engagement provides co-curricular opportunities, such as an optional, longitudinal certificate program and an annual off-campus experience, designed to provide students the opportunity to apply theory to practice and learn more about how to effectively care for patient communities from various backgrounds.

Student Advocates Dedicated to Inclusive Excellence Coalition 

Student Advocates Dedicated to Inclusive Excellence (SADIE) exists as a body of welcoming students committed to: advancing the integration of inclusive excellence within the medical school’s curriculum; supporting student organizations; fostering an environment for meaningful discussion; and advocating for all students at USC School of Medicine Greenville. SADIE representatives are meant to serve as conduits for all medical students to express themselves and learn in a safe and supportive setting. Notably, the SADIE Coalition encompasses representation from the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), Medical Student Pride Alliance (MSPA), Global Health Interest Group, and Supporting Women in Medicine (SWiM) just to name a few.
