Learning Outcomes
- Upon completion of the MAT degree in theatre education, students will be able to design meaningful, engaging, challenging, culturally-responsive and student-centered lessons/units.
- Upon completion of the MAT degree in theatre education, students will be able to employ a variety of current learning theories, theatre education pedagogies, current technologies, and social/cultural practices to enhance their teacher effectiveness.
- Upon completion of the MAT degree in theatre education, students will be able to identify, meet, and advocate for the learning differences that you will inevitably uncover or learn about within their students.
- Upon completion of the MAT degree in theatre education, students will be able to generate meaningful theatre experiences with students that center their experiences and developmental journeys as young artists.
Degree Requirements (45 Hours)
The M.A.T. degree requires 45 semester hours of graduate-level course work, with 6-15 credits in professional education, 15-24 credits in the teaching content area, and 15 hours in internship and seminar. To meet SC Read to Succeed requirements, students completing the MAT in Theatre must include in their program of study: EDRD 732. Eligibility for admission is limited to those persons seeking initial teacher certification. Candidates must complete additional course work in professional education and/or their teaching content area at the undergraduate and graduate levels as necessary.
