Admissions

Requirements for admission to graduate degree programs in biomedical engineering include the general admission requirements of The Graduate School as well as more stringent program requirements. In general, the admissions process is highly competitive. Admissions decisions are based on the quality of the applicant’s previous university-level academic work (as reflected by grade point average, or GPA), letters of recommendation (at least two letters are required for evaluation), GRE scores, and other evidence of past accomplishments. Admission to graduate studies is granted by the Graduate School, in consultation with the Biomedical Engineering program.

Degree Requirements (30 Hours)

The Master of Engineering (M.E.) degree in biomedical engineering (BMEN) requires 30 credit hours of graduate level work beyond the B.S. degree. Students must complete 12 hours in mandatory core BMEN courses (BMEN 710, BMEN 713, BMEN 720, and BMEN 723), 6 hours in approved BMEN core electives and 12 hours of additional approved electives. In addition to the courses, students must pass the comprehensive assessment.
